Demonstration of Treatment Efficiency by  Vacuum Crystallizer

The vacuum crystallizer uses a vacuum pump to create a vacuum in the evaporation chamber. When the vacuum reaches -0.07MPa -0.09MPa, steam heat from an external source is introduced for heating, and the liquid starts boiling and evaporating at 55°C. The specially designed internal scraper continuously stirs the tank walls and wastewater to prevent crystallization from forming on the walls. While stirring, it effectively increases the evaporation and drying efficiency. Ultimately, the wastewater is treated into a solid or semi-solid concentrate, which is automatically discharged from the discharge port. External cooling water provides cooling for the condenser, and the steam generated during evaporation condenses into liquid water upon cooling. The distillate water is clear and transparent, meeting discharge standards or suitable for reuse.The concentrates can be disposal or recover as raw materials or by-products.

Applications of Vacuum Crystallizers

  • Treatment of effluents with a high contaminant load,such as crystallization of brines, concentration of spent working baths and concentration of extracts and fragrances, fouling liquids, brines, glues, inks and paints,etc.
  • Concentration and recovery of raw materials or by-products
  • Treatment of effluents when conventional techniques are not effective (as in the case of brines)
  • Maximum concentration of waste when external management costs are very high
  • Useful when treated effluents cannot be discharged (implementation of a zero discharge system)

Working Principle of Vacuum Crystallizer

  • The scraper evaporator starts by using a vacuum pump to extract vacuum and create negative pressure inside the cylinder. The diaphragm pump is used to pump the concentrated liquid into the scraper evaporator.
  • Live steam is used as the heating and evaporation heat source. The heat source enters the jacket layer to continuously heat and evaporate the wastewater.
  • Due to the vacuum inside the cylinder, the wastewater quickly begins to boil, generating a large amount of steam. The on-site circulating cooling water is used to exchange heat with the steam, and the steam is condensed into distilled water.
  • The scraper tightly adheres to the inner wall and continuously scrapes to prevent scaling on the wall, improving drying efficiency.
  • The wastewater is constantly evaporating, and the concentration of the residual wastewater gradually increases. As it loses water, it gradually approaches a solid state.
  • When the wastewater inside the cylinder is dried to a solid (moisture content below 10%), the equipment stops supplying heat. The physical characteristics of the paddle scraper are used to push the solid waste out of the cylinder.
  • The solid waste is collected and packaged for external disposal or recycling, and the evaporated water is discharged or reused after meeting the discharge standards.

Industrial vacuum crystallizers allow the complete removal of liquid from an effluent, transforming the paste into a dry solid, usually crystallized. Its function is based on heat application with the aim of evaporating the liquid until a consistent solid is obtained.
