Recommended Treatment Approach

A typical evaluation begins with stream segregation and conventional metal removal where appropriate. Low-temperature vacuum evaporation can then reduce liquid volume and recover distillate. Concentrate may require stabilization, off-site disposal or further crystallization depending on salt composition and the project objective.

Suitable Applications and Important Limits

Suitable candidates may include segregated plating rinse water, bath drag-out, ion-exchange regeneration wastewater and membrane reject. Cyanide-, chromium(VI)- or volatile-containing streams require specific safety and pretreatment review.

Actual volume reduction, energy use, distillate quality and concentrate condition depend on feed composition and operating conditions. Local reuse or discharge requirements must be confirmed for each project.

Technology Options

Low-Temperature Vacuum Evaporation — wastewater minimization and distillate recovery.

Scraped Vacuum Crystallization — further concentration of scaling, viscous or crystallizing feeds.
